The Ravenswood Wellness Partnership (RWP) is a unique collaborative of mental health and community organizations in East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park working together to increase capacity and access to culturally appropriate mental health services and support for Ravenswood youth—leading to earlier intervention and better outcomes.
The Ravenswood community is vibrant, diverse, and deeply resilient—rich in culture, history, and strength. Many local organizations and community members are already doing important work to support children and families.
But despite these efforts, significant inequities persist:
According to data cited by the U.S. Surgeon General, children living in poverty are up to three times more likely to experience mental health challenges than those from more economically advantaged families.
We imagine a system of care where no child falls through the cracks due to a mental health issue that may impact their learning or ability to thrive. RWP is working together across schools, clinics, and community systems to ensure every child has access to the mental health support they deserve.
Our mission is to provide youth and families in East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park with quality mental health care by increasing coordination, capacity and access to culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health services.
Increase Mental Health Service Capacity
Increase Access to Mental Health Services
Improve Mental Health System Coordination
In 2018, thanks to a research and development grant from the Sand Hill Foundation, we hired an independent researcher to conduct a needs assessment to better understand the mental health needs of youth and families in the Ravenswood community.
The study included 150 hours of research and 40+ interviews with schools, organizations, community leaders and families in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven. Validated findings revealed potential opportunities to increase service capacity, access and system coordination in Ravenswood. Many of the organizations who participated in the study became founding members of the Ravenswood Wellness Partnership.
The RWP Training Consortium offers a 10-month practicum for graduate students in master’s and doctoral programs, providing hands-on experience in child and family psychotherapy, trauma-informed care, and community-based mental health services.
Together, we can ensure the Ravenswood Wellness Partnership continues delivering life-changing mental health services—reaching students in underserved communities who might otherwise go without care.
